Home Depot delivery gone wrong.... can't anyone get this right???

Quick post, I totally forgot to let you guys know about our washer/dryer delivery.... I wasn't home, my husband was, and when I got home, I found my dryer to be about 1 ft from the wall and 4ft of dryer venting all coiled up behind the dryer with gaps where the 2 pieces connected.... there is a freaking diagram laying on top of the dryer showing you to NOT install it that way!  OMG SERIOUSLY HOME DEPOT.  I will never purchase another appliance from anywhere that doesn't have their own staff of delivery persons.  I will gladly pay more money and have it INSTALLED....

So, I called Home Depot right after I saw they mess... OH AND THEY DIDN'T WEAR BOOTIES AND WALKED ON MY HARDWOODS AND NEW CARPET IN THEIR WORK BOOTS!!! AHHHHH!!!!

So, now I'm playing phone tag with customer service and I have to call back the store manager... one of them called my husband (he's not sure which) and he said she was extremely rude to him.  Atleast Sears was super nice every step of the way and compensated me.  I hope Home Depot makes good or I will be shopping at Lowes....

  1. I used to work at one of these corporate offices and I couldn't/can't stand the customer service I got shopping in my own company's local store. It's horrible. It's the same everywhere these days.

  2. Did your husband ask them to wear booties or take off their boots?

    1. He was working from home and on the phone with clients at the time so he wasn't paying attention, also, my husband is terrible with noticing things like that. But you should never have to ask someone to talk off their shoes either, I have had many things delivered or services done at other homes/apartments and they always wore booties, especially on carpet in a brand new house and where there is mud and dirt all over the street in an active construction site. It's common sense and according to Sears (and they use the same horrible delivery companies as Home Depot) it's policy to wear them

    2. I agreee - you shouldn't have to ask companies to use common courtesy! I feel like in almost any company where you are going into people's homes, it's a policy to wear booties or take off your shoes (or at least the large ones!)

If you don't get anywhere with CS at HD, I would find out who they subcontract out their deliveries to (if you haven't already) and start making phone calls there as well. Maybe you could get them to come clean your carpets or something? Definitely get the delviery/installation charge refunded, assuming you had to pay for it in the first place!

  5. All these problems are really making me nervous for my home and deliveries.

We purchased our fridge at the beginning of the month and they said they would hold it until delivery in October.

We are purchasing all of our appliances in Morgantown and then having them delivered to Pittsburgh.

    Hoping all goes smoothly.

Good Luck getting it straightened out.

  7. That sounds terrible!! I would complain until they did something to make it right, that's simply not acceptable behavior and the district manager has an open ear for this sort of bull.

  9. Ugh, that sounds terrible! I stopped shopping with them after my last delivery experience- which was quite similar to yours, and I was not offered compensation. My brother recommended Home Direct USA, who he hired to help him move all his furniture and big appliances to his new place. They were much easier to work with. Hope this helps!
