Paint and ... That's about it

Well stopped by last night again, I really want to keep up on the progress with the window so I don't miss anything. We still are having water leak in the basement the insulation board is wet I want it replaced so mold doesn't grow... And I saw that we are painted. I hope they plan to do another coat because it was kind of sloppy in a lot of spots... But I hear that is the norm. It looks so much smaller now with the walls and ceilings all done I got scared maybe this house isn't be enough! But then again, it was the budget that we felt comfortable with and the bigger the house the more to clean! I think once the floors are done and al the finishing touches are done it will look bigger again, I remember walking though the model thinking it was too much space!

I also got some pics of the window, notice the new one is much smaller... Grrrr

And you can see the lovely mess of a hole we still have....

  1. Wow! It's really come together! Where is that water in the basement coming from? Underneath, or a wall? Hope they fix that quickly. And the Venice is a great floor plan--I'm sure it's just the illusion of having all the walls suddenly covered that makes it look smaller. Love the placement of the stairs!

  2. You lucked out with the height of that basement and the larger windows.. Our basement windows are very small, close to 1 foot high by 2 feet wide (or 1.5 x 2.5, but no more). Looks great!

    1. The window is an egress and it is building code it has to be there if you don't have a walkout basement but only 1 is staying they messed up and put the window on the wrong wall so te larger of the 2 is getting filled back in

  3. We have been inside many Venices, and it should be more than enough room (especially with the morning room)!

  4. I've found in terms of size: foundation hole/basement only looked small, after framing everything seemed big, everything after drywall looked small, everything looked big again after moving furniture in. It's really coming along! Very exciting!

  5. Sorry to hear about the whole egress window situation. Why did they go with a smaller window the second time? Not sure about the Venice plans, but ours call for (2) #5 horizontal pieces of rebar in the foundation over the top of the egress window. What is supporting the load over the top of the window?

    1. I didn't know if or what should be supporting the load but it is a great question and I'm asking my PM now first thing Monday that is for the heads up!

  6. I agree with Leah--after framing it looks huge, drywall makes it look small, and when you move in with the furniture you currently have--it looks like a warehouse. Your house looks great! Glad they are getting that leak fixed.
